My father in law had come over one day and when he left to go home, his car wouldn't start. He left the car here and we gave him a ride. A couple days later, I called Triple A to jump start the SUV as promised. Good thing I went to take something from own car BEFORE the Triple A guy came over because I realized I have a flat tire! Two birds with one stone! OR NOT! ...... My husband hadn't used his car in a while and asked me to have the guy jump start his car too! I said sure. Why not? I call Triple A for the third time in one day!!! They guy arrives and does his work and as he is leaving, it starts pouring rain like no other!
I am told by the Triple A guy that if i drive my husband's car around for 30 minutes, I will be okay. I asked if there is a chance that the car will stall WHILE I am driving and he assures me that no such thing will happen!
Thankfully Selma was home already and accompanied me on the 30 minute drive in the rain. We decide that since we are going to be driving around for a while (and the radio wasn't working) that we should drive through Starbucks quickly and get some coffee! It is literally THE LONGEST wait and I will tell you why. Here is the scenario:
The car starts smoking up and shaking; the windshield wipers start to slow down and the radio shuts down! My biggest worry? I am next in line to get my coffee and they are taking forever!!!! And if we get stuck? OMG, all these cars behind us! the drivers are going to be ssssoooooooooooooooo mad!!!! I was scurred! And what was Selma doing? Laughing and telling me that we are going to make it! Sure enough, we get our coffees and as we are driving away, the car makes this sound that was fading away as in: "I am dying now!!!" I barely get it out of the drive-thru and park in two spots when the car just dies. This isn't even the worst part yet. I don't have my Triple A with me, my phone is dying and the window is down. I'm getting wetter and wetter and SoIlly who does have his Triple A card with him does not have a ride to pick me up! Oh jeez!
The best part is that my Apple Cider tasted awesome and the Triple A guy was right across the street when he got the call! Yaaaayyyyy! and my hubby's co-worker gave him a ride! Hoot! Hoot! We drive the car home and I CALL IT A DAY!!!!!
But hold on! My father in law's car was still at my place! So two days later I decide it's time to drive his car back to his place. However, we stop to eat first. And as we get to Corea Kalbi Korean BBQ (unfortunately, they don't have a website but they are on Yelp), the cars lights and radio shut down! We are driving with no lights, in the dark! Thank God we were one street away. Don't wanna bore you with my long story so here is some pictures of the amazing food we had!
We started off with a mouthwatering salad....
and sides such as 3 different types of Kimchi (Cabbage, Mushroom & Zucchini that was my fav!) & pickled cucumbers......
....more sides, dipping sauces for the meat & RICE!!!!
If I remember correctly, we have salty/vinegary dipping sauce, chili paste & a sweet dipping sauce....
the best meats ever!
So YYUUUMMMMYYYYY, nothing was left over!
...and the "All You Can Eat" is gone!.....
Food was so good I left a big mess ;)
Guess what! We call Triple A AGAIN!!!!! They come out and tells us it isn't the battery. We start the car and it starts working. Rather than having him tow the car, we decide to drive it there taking the street route. After all we were only an exit away from my in laws house. So close to their house and the car starts acting up and shutting down. People are constantly trying to tell us the lights are out. This particular pedestrian wouldn't let go and I had a hard time making her understand we know as my windows wouldn't roll down due to the car dying. She was standing in FRONT of the car at a red light and wouldn't give up! So finally she understood that the car is dying and we need to get going so she moves.
Right before we have to make a U-turn, the car totally dies on the very busy main street of Irvine. We can't get the emergency lights to work and we are in an actual lane stuck as the cars are coming at us at 50-55mph!!!!!! Luckily, I had downloaded a flashlight app on my Droid Incredible and was able to direct people away from the car. At the same time I call Irvine PD to send someone to direct traffic for safety issues. I have to tell you how lucky we were because as my phone was losing its battery (I had used it all day) and the police hadn't arrived yet, a lovely Asian lady doctor and her daughter park behind us and turn on their emergency lights. The police eventually showed up and because it was such a busy road, he pushed us bumper to bumper with his car into a less busy street. It was quite hilarious. Selma and I couldn't stop laughing especially because every time the cop said something through his speaker to direct my hubby who was doing all the driving (poor thing), my hubby would respond as if the cop would hear him! In addition to that, my father in law gets there for support and he is dressed in a suit, sharp and ready to go! I love him, but it was hilarious considering he was ready to go to bed, it was 11pm and he got there so fast!Anyways, we tow the SUV and we get a ride home! It was a classic day and week. I couldn't wait for it to be over!
I am so grateful though that at any given time non of us blew up because of all the car issues. Turns out it never was the battery and when we went to get the tire replaced, the mechanic told us we could have gotten into an accident if the tire had popped while we were driving.....
